Alphajet E - Patrouille de France

The Alpha Jet is a two-seater tandem jet for training and tactical support, designed to meet a program established jointly by the French and German Air Forces.

The Alpha Jet is the first aircraft produced jointly by Dassault and Breguet. Intended to succeed the Fouga-Magister and the Lockheed T 33, it is undertaken in cooperation with the German company Dornier. Definitional changes occur during the development phase.

In April 1971, the program is as follows:

a French training version, as simplified as possible; a German version of close air support and battlefield reconnaissance, with the German government covering the additional costs.

The first flight of prototype 01 took place in Istres on October 26, 1973, Jean-Marie Saget was at the controls. The aircraft is very maneuverable and has no problems at transonic speeds.
